It’s been a while since my last post. This fall has been busy for me, but I am still keeping up with my Etsy shop. Come and visit me there!
I haven’t posted in a while… needed to take better care of myself (exercise and diet) and not get too obsessed with sewing.
A week or so ago, I wanted to make a bag just for me and not for my shop. I wanted to try a design of my own. After struggling with it for a bit (mainly b/c I am not a good planner), I managed to salvage the bag and here is the end product:

Also, I have been curious as to how to make these square/cube zipper pouches that I saw online. I had a pretty good idea as to the how, but my measurement didn’t come out quite right. Nevertheless, the end product is pretty cute!
Now, I just need to figure out how to line the entire pouch. So far, I have only half of it lined… Humm…

Recently, I got some really good deals from fabric.com and it’s been really fun playing with new fabrics. Also, the grommets I got from Home Depot are being put to good use! Who knew I would buy something at Home Depot other than ropes and wood… heehee~ Anyway, I made this bag (below) yesterday and just loved the color combo and the straps. Though I really want to just keep it for personal use, I have way too many bags and will list it on my Etsy shop soon!

In celebration of my mommy returning home safely from her travels, I made this cute pouch for her. Love you, Mommy! <3

Last night, we saw a beautiful sunset sky right from our balcony and apartment parking lot. With an impending thunder storm, the sunset lit up the sky with the most beautiful shades of orange, pink and red.

Hubby’s family came for a long Memorial Day weekend from Northern Virginia. We had a blast hiking in Bandelier and visiting Taos and Santa Fe. We were so blessed by there visit and missed them dearly already. During their visit, my mother-in-law requested a custom order purse and I just finished it!
I hope the stitches hold up well and that she will enjoy using the purse this summer~

After spending some more time with my sewing machine, I am getting better at sewing straight! I also learned how to fully line my totes and wristlets. Adding magnetic closure was fun too. I am so glad I got lots of Ikea fabric to play with when I was in Seattle.
Today, I am happy to announce that LoveBrutus will be carrying some of the my sewing creations. I listed a tote and a wristlet and will add more soon. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did making them!

I can’t believe it’s almost mid-May! In a few days, we would have lived here for three months! God has been so good to us here! Hubby’s family will be visiting in about two weeks and we are looking forward to seeing them. My mother-in-law is really good at sewing, so I will have to ask her for some lessons when she is here. ![]()
It snowed last Sunday. Pretty heavy too! I had to dig out my winter clothes so I don’t freeze on my way to church that morning. And now, it’s pretty much in the high 60′s and low 70′s from here on out till the blazing heat comes… so I am told. The spring weather inspired to take some of my watercolor and make paper spring dresses out of them. It was a fun project… easier than making dresses for real.
So, I made three dresses: a scoop neck red sundress, a strapless yellow ruffle dress, and an orange v-neck dress. Enjoy~
These dresses will be on my Etsy shop soon. Have a great weekend!
Hubby had a conference in Seattle last week and I got to tag along. That meant we got to spend time with my super cute niece Hailey and celebrated her second birthday with her and my brother’s family. That also meant I got to go to Ikea, where I purchased some awesome fabric to play with!
My first inspiration was to make a wristlet and that meant I had to put in my first zipper. It turned out ok and I am pretty happy with the result. Then, I made another zipper pouch for my iPod touch. I got a bit better at putting in the zipper on this time around. Finally, I made simple wallet b/c my current one is quite big and bulky for the wristlet. Whew~

I would like to add some of these items on my Etsy shop, but I still need to improve my sewing first. Sewing straight is still a challenge for me… haha~ Also, I need to learn to put in linings for bags as well. We will see! Regardless, it’s about having fun. ![]()
So, I woke up this morning and was going through my usual routine of drinking my decaf and trying my best to wake up before dropping my hubby off at work. I checked my email and saw that my patron lwang10 had made another purchase on my Etsy. I opened up the invoice and saw that she bought my my entire inventory! All eleven sets! It was her birthday present for me… aww…

Moving here has been quite a big adjustment. There has been some bumps on the road so far, but I am so blessed with loving friends and family who support me so much with their encouragements and prayers.
Now, I have to restock my Etsy shop!

My hubby got me a sew machine on Tuesday. The last time I tried to use one was the summer after my Jr. year in high school. My mother left me home for the summer with my Dad while she took the boys back to Taiwan. I was very bored, so I decided to make a skirt! I got some fabric and was all ready to go… but then, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to work my mom’s sewing machine. Being 1994, I didn’t have the World Wide Web to save me for what was about to happen next… I used the hot glue gun instead to “try” to make my skirt. Needless to say, it didn’t work. Sigh~
This time around, the sewing machine came with a instruction DVD. Awesome~ I got 1/2 yd of fabric from Hobby Lobby and decided to make something. Something small to start… So, I made a draw string pouch for my sunglasses. That went well. Then, I made a bigger draw string pouch for my cosmetics and gum, so I don’t have to fish for them in my purse. So far so good! Curious about how button holes are made, I tried it on my third project. I made a square pouch that has a flap with a button hole. This is perfect for my iPod touch and Shuffle.
Then, today, I decided to use the rest of the fabric for a small purse. I got a free pattern online and scaled it down. Then, I made a cute bow to dress it up. The purse gave me the most problem, but overall, it was a fun project.

Though I secretly want to be on the next Project Runway, I don’t think drawstring pouches will take me to Bryant Park.
This is fun though and that’s what counts.
Thanks to ldlim83 and tiffyhung, LoveBrutus is off to a great start on Etsy! I am still uploading more items everyday, so check back often to see the latest note cards. Also, upon the requests from my dear friends and my mom, I will be adding more note card sets on LoveBrutus and not just single cards.
Here is a sample of a set of Watercolor note cards that ldlim83 ordered on LoveBrutus:

On a separate note, we have movie stars in town! Yes, here in Los Alamos! Steve Soderbergh is directing a movie here called “Knockout”. The film features mixed martial artist Gina Carano in the lead role, along with Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum and Antonio Banderas. Apparently, “Brothers” was filmed here as well starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, and Tobey Maguire. Wow, I never knew this place was so happening. :p
Alright, back to reality.
